Neurofeedback or ‘biofeedback for the brain’ is a sophisticated system of learning that relies on neuroplasticity and operant conditioning. Research has well established that the brain is neuroplastic – it changes based on experience and feedback from the environment. We give your brain the experience of functioning at its optimal level and feed-back that information to the brain. Through repetition and practice, the brain learns how to stay in these new patterns just like we learn anything else – imagine riding a bike. Once learned, the brain rarely forgets.
How It Works
QEEG Neurofeedback relies on electromagnetic tomography to identify areas of dysfunction with suppressed or excitatory firing. Think of a sluggish brain versus an angry, easily excitable brain. Network hubs can be too communicative or under-communicative. Think of someone who is rigid or stuck in self, versus inattentive and unable to focus. Brain Injuries which can include blunt trauma, emotional trauma where too much pruning has occurred, chemical/toxins or a brain under stress for long periods of time all have a form of brain injury. The brain slows down to protect itself, it hijacks certain areas to attend to their immediate environment, thus, underusing large parts of their brain’s capacity. The good news is that this was once learned, and can be unlearned.
After identifying problem areas and going over your results, we set your highly individualized sLORETA protocol, meticulously selecting each area identified as an area of interest for training. You sit back in a relaxing chair, using our 24 sensor, dry-cap system which acts as tiny microphones to pick up and amplify your brainwave data as you watch your favorite Netflix show, YouTube Ted-Talk, or play one of our many games. Your brain self-adjusts based on audio and visual rewards. After 20-30 minutes, you’re done and can go about your day.
